Tahanan Bistro

Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I thought it is timely to share the best date experience Pablo and I had experienced by far. If you are still scouting for a place for a romantic date or an intimate gathering, we have a great suggestion. I will try to bring you with us during our 5th anniversary celebration at Tahanan Bistro.

Tahanan Bistro is a quaint restaurant tucked in Lores Farm Subdivision in Upper Antipolo. Honestly, I just learned about it when Pablo presented me with a list of restaurants, where we could possibly celebrate our anniversary. Because we were trying to avoid long hours on the road due to traffic, he narrowed down our list to those located in Quezon City or Antipolo. And voila, he came across this gorgeous restaurant during his research. Since we share the same taste in selecting date places, we both decided to visit this place without any second thoughts. And it is one of our best decisions, no exaggeration.

Because we wanted to explore the place, we arrived before 6 PM, our reserved time slot, and the resumption of their operations for the dinner schedule. As expected, we were not allowed to enter yet, so we took the opportunity to take some photos outside. P.S. we might have enjoyed taking lots of photos. But I will spare you, guys, from our GGSS shots. I will just share very few photos with our faces. (Please don’t judge. Just doing it for the gram, yo! Hehehe!)

When the clock struck 6, we knocked, and we were warmly welcomed. We were advised to take off our shoes before going inside the restaurant, and put them on the rack beside the entrance. But because we were in awe of the beauty of the place, we asked if we could have a few minutes to walk around first. When we finally decided to go inside, we were directed to our reserved spot. It was very thoughtful, because they placed the names of those who made the reservation on each table.

And even though we were already seated, we cannot stop looking around, because everything was such a delight to the eyes. The bistro is made up of wood, and it exudes a very warm and homey vibes. It is also surrounded with lots of plants. Oh, how I love the greenery!

For our dinner, we ordered their set menu, which is a five-course meal priced at Php 1,200 each. They have three selections for the set menu, namely Arayat, Banahaw and Kanlaon. I ordered Banahaw, while Pablo selected Kanlaon. One trivia we learned is that these set menus are available for three months only, because they change the food selections every quarter. (More reason to come back here. 😉) Posting below the photos of our delicious and filling meals that night.

After indulging ourselves with great food, we toured the restaurant, and the garden. Below the dining area of the bistro, there are artworks and woodwork of Benji Reyes, the owner. Believe me, guys, I cannot say anything negative. Everything was perfect!

Below are some more photos.

Some notes:

  • Make a reservation, because they have limited seating capacity (32 seats), and they do not accommodate walk-ins.
  • Make sure to confirm or follow-up your reservation and queries. Best is to do your follow-up via call since they respond more to that. Based on our experience, it took them a few days before they were able to respond to us.
  • They are open during Friday to Sunday only.
  • Operating hours are as follows: Lunch (Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 to 16:00); Dinner (Friday to Sunday. 18:00 to 22:00).
  • They can be booked for events during Friday to Sunday between 11:00 to 22:00.
  • Tahanan Bistro is not only for romantic dates; it is also perfect for dates with family or friends.
  • It might be difficult to go there when you are commuting since this is inside a subdivision, but you can use Waze to locate the bistro.

We will definitely go back to this place. Worth the long drive! 💯
