Worry is a Waste of Time

I worry too much, even if there is nothing to be worried about. I am praning, if you must say. I always have to think overthink about every situation, which leads to restlessness and more stress. I know it is not healthy, but bad habits die hard, I guess.

But I believe that correcting one’s behavior always starts with the recognition that something is strange or not right. And since I realize that I worry a lot, and it is not doing me any good, I know in my heart I could overcome this.

Allow me to share a note from my 21-year old self, which Facebook thoughtfully reminded me today. 🙂

I can’t remember what happened to me that time to come up with a “mature” post. Hehe! But it keeps on showing up on my feed for years now because I know it has a purpose. I must listen to that 21-year old lady who wants me (us) to stay worry-free. Because it is true, most of the time, the things we keep on overthinking about, and getting stressed over with are simply not worth the time and feelings. They hinder us from being happy and more productive. They make the situation worse than it really is. They make us more tired than we already are. Put simply, they are a waste of time. So staying worry-free, and just being positive with everything that comes our way is one the best things we could do to combat the challenges and difficulties life gives us once in a while.

Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
